Reverend Jay Bowman : Beach Wedding Readings
It’s really nice to hear something read at a wedding
that totally resonates with the two lives being joined that day. A choice of
one, two, or even three can be a nice addition to your wedding if carefully
placed in the ceremony order. You can also have a family or friend share the
reading if you like. Enjoy!

Wedding Readings, Poems, Etc.
1. Ancient Apache Wedding Blessing:
Now you
will feel no rain for
each of you will be shelter to the other.
Now you
will feel no cold for
each of you will be warmth to the other.
Now
there is no loneliness for you for
each of you will be companion to the other.
Now you
are two persons but there is one life before you.
Go now
to your dwelling place to enter into the
days of your togetherness.
And may
your days be good and long upon this earth.
2. The Love Chapter in I Corinthians 13:
Love is
patient and kind.
Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or
rude.
Love
does not demand it's own way.
Love is
not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been
wronged.
It is
never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins
out.
Love
never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful,
and
endures through every circumstance...
There
are three things that will endure forever,
faith,
hope, and love,
and the
greatest of these is love.
3. Friendship and
Love:
It is
often said that it is love that makes the world go round.
However, without doubt, it is friendship that keeps
our spinning existence
on an
even keel. True Friendship provides so many of the essentials
for a
happy life...
It is
the mortar which bonds us together in harmony,
and it
is the calm, warm protection we sometimes need when
the world outside seems cold and chaotic.
True
Friendship nurtures our hopes, supports us in our
disappointments,
and
encourages us to grow to our best potential.
______________ and _____________ came together as
friends.
Today
they pledge to each other not only their love, but also the strength, warmth, and the fun of true
friendship.
This
day, these friends will marry with love.
And as
love brings new meaning to life, so
marriage brings new meaning to love.
4. Traditional Irish
Blessing:
May the
road rise to meet you,
May the
wind be always at your back,
May the
sun shine warm upon your face,
The
rains fall soft upon your fields.
And
until we meet again,
May God
hold you in the palm of his hand.
May God
be with you and bless you;
May you
see your children's children.
May you
be poor in misfortune,
Rich in
blessings, and may you know nothing but happiness from
this day forward.
May the
road rise to meet you
May the
wind be always at your back
May the
warm rays of sun fall upon your home
And may
the hand of a friend always be near.
May
green be the grass you walk on,
May
blue be the skies above you,
May
pure be the joys that surround you,
May
true be the hearts that love you.
5. Love ;
by Roy Croft
I love
you, not only for what your are,
But for
what I am when I am with you.
I love
you, not only for what you have made of yourself,
but for
what you are making of me.
I love
you for the part of me that you bring out;
I love
you for putting your hand into my heaped-up heart
and
passing over all the foolish, weak things that you
can't
help dimly seeing there, and drawing out into the light
all the
beautiful belongings that no one else had looked
quite
far enough to find.
I love
you because you are helping me to make of the lumber of my life
not a
tavern, but a temple;
out of
the works of my every day
not a
reproach, but a song.
I love
you because you have done more than any creed
could
have done to make me good,
and
more than any fate to make me happy.
You
have done it....without a touch, without a word,
without
a sign, and you have done it
by
being yourself.
